Holy Days

Shogatsu  - New Year  is the most important holy day in Japan. January 1 is a very important day, best started by viewing the New Year’s first sunrise and traditionally believed to be represent for the whole year that has just started. Therefore, the day is supposed be full of joy and free of stress and anger, while everything should be clean. No work may be done on this day.  





Another important holy day is Toshi-goi-no-Matsuri - Is a festival known also as the Yak yoke festival. Yakuyuoke means a talisman which is designed to keep away evil spirits. The festival is linked closely to the rites of passage in society and deals with the problems people faced at  difficult periods of their lives. Information Source
