The main and oldest dance that the Shinto did and
do is the Kagura, which was a ritualistic dance that young girls did when in or
near Shinto shrines. The thing that separates this dance with the other dances
is that it still has some spiritual and religious meaning. The Kagura incorporates
shamanism, animism, emperor worship and veneration of nature and fertility.
This is a dance is a very meaningful dance to the Shinto and they take great
pride in it.
